Depending which location is nearest translate either to (+v,0,0),(-v,0,0),(0,+v,0),(0,-v,0),(0,0,+v),(0,0,-v) or no translation then scale by 2 if translated or no scale if not.
Then apply plain (Mandelbulb math) z^8 as a Julia.
Then reverse the applied transform i.e. scale by 0.5 and translate back the other way if it was originally trannslated."
If you do so, you create 8 cut planes but I don't see any cut here
